Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: s Wind Stength: 14-18 Surf / Sea State: big Air Temperature: 21 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 23.63 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 13 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
A day that promised so'ooooooooooo much failed to deliver :( With rain
early and wind supposed to arrive at midday as the last couple of days, so
after breakfast at The Dip wind wind seemed to be raising so I went and got
my kit. The few sailors out were struggling with 7.5 so had a sandwich and
waited but the wind didn't come, so thought I was wasting a nice sunny day
I rigged the 9.4 and went out on the longboard. My plan was to beat along
the coast to the River Orwell and sail back broad but I made it a mile out
and the front of my boom broke !!! :( and as I fall in the back end went as
well. I thought that this was another trip in a rescue boat but I used the
uphaul to roughly tie the front together and the out haul to do the back
and then carefully waterstarted and slowly sailed back to the beach - that
was a good start and another £100 + to find :( I then had to chose between
8.5 on the longboard or 7.5 on the short and went with the smaller option.
I then had an hour of wich I planned three quarters of the time but the
wind was very up and down, shame really as a nice swell where the kiters
sail at the golf club. Still can't complain , thats sailing three days in a
row and Team GB or going from strength to strength :) Come on Nick and Ben
in the medal race !!!
